Hello viewers and ... ( 1 year ago by irishdude232)
Hello viewers and Mercola,
I am a Chemist for the Health region and Aluminum is quite a hazardous material. The Aluminuim foil is ok but here in antiperspirants they use a liquid Aliminium. So listen to Mercola.
Cheers,

What's the difference between anti-perspirants and deodorants?
Antiperspirants ... ( 1 year ago by mercola)
Antiperspirants block sweat while deodorants do not.

ugh. i was so hoping the dangers of antiperspirants was an urban legend. crap. i've been meaning to research this for a while - and i guess i'll now have to...but you're usually spot on, so i'm sure i'll discover the same. soap and water is not good enough for me - so it looks like Tom's Deodorant it is. i just doubt that will be good enough either. but better tom's than cancer, right?

Dr. Mercola, I've been using rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle, it works great! I think you recommended it a few years ago on your web site. Is it no longer recommended? Thanks for an awesome site.
Isoprophyl alcohol ... ( 1 year ago by mercola)
Isoprophyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) is another poison and should be AVOIDED. If you wanted to use something safer you could try hydrogen peroxide. However it would cause a bubbling under your armpits. I adivse simple soap and water.
Years ago in high ... ( 1 year ago by Hevynly1)
Years ago in high school, my geometry teacher (who doubled as an asst. basketball coach) used to have bright green (yeah, green!) sweat marks on all of his shirts. If that's not reason enough to stay away from antiperspirants, I don't know what is. Great information Dr. Mercola!
the toxicity of ... ( 1 year ago by Myaucat)
the toxicity of aluminum in brand name antiperspirants is old news here in Canada. actually more and more people are turning off this crap b/c they don't it in their bodies. Lavilin is the best natural body deodarant around which we can get at most health food stores here. Alum is not a better alternative, its still an aluminum derivative.
Actually most ... ( 1 year ago by Myaucat)
Actually most antiperspirants/deodarants in the health food store do not contain alum. I've tried many different natural/organic products - I find Lavilin the best. It's like a paste and you only need a tiny bit on your finger. It prevents bacteria growth in the area because it uses zinc oxide as the main active ingredient.
it's zinc combined ... ( 1 year ago by Myaucat)
it's zinc combined with oxygen which is very safe for the body. this bacteria is anaerobic so it cannot live in the presence of free oxygen. it literally lasts for days withour re-application, even after a shower.

Soap and water was ... ( 1 year ago by sunupsam)
Soap and water was not enough for me. To stay odor free. I use Crystal Stick (Mineral Salt and Ammonium Alum) - hope that's okay. :)
You know I have to ... ( 1 year ago by visiblemode)
You know I have to agree with this. I haven't worn deoderant/antiperspirant in 10 years. Most people don't need to. I think most of us started wearing it as teens because it's 'what you do.' Just showering normally is fine.

Yeah, I agree with this. Go for Deodorants.

I quit using the stuff, too, although I don't know how long it's been. If I need to use something, a little apple cider vinegar does the trick! It doesn't smell like vinegar after it dries.

Well that just put me off using anti-perspirants. I'd always thought that there was something strange about anti-perspirants, people say that they cause cancer etc and they actually make me itch quite a bit.
I'm not sure if the soap thing would work for me, but I might lay off these sprays now. The wikipedia article about neurotoxicity is disturbing enough...
