two processor cores are not a good thing, due to sli/crossfire being shite and unreliable, the performance gained is variable and also the performance gain going from 1 to 2 cores is usually 50 - 70% but can be lower according to the game. wait untill hydra comes out. dual cards will be in the poo

but i'll wait and see what will happen in the future between these two companies!
I will buy a new GPU when StarCraft2 Released and see what both will offer for notbooks and Desk tops!

sorry to bust on your parade folks but the ati 4870x2 rapes 2 gtx 280s running in sli,the reviews are all over the net from toms hardware all the way down to anandtech,benchmarks dont lie.the only games that nvidia is able to capture a defeat on are games that have been heavily optimized for their gpus which isnt a whole lot considering crysis and unreal tournament 3 to name a few, dont flood the boards with ignorant posts just because you broke your bank account buying an overpriced gpu

£200 and get equal or better performance than gtx280 (£320+).
good times
relatively good multi gpu scaling in most games - best scaled multi gpu setup around giving 70 - 90% improvement over single 4830.

Yah the 4870X2 is a powerful card, only thing that's holding it back are the crappy drivers atm. So I'm stuck between buying 280 or 4870X2. Like buy a less powerful card with stable drivers, or buy the more powerful card and wait a little until the drivers improve.

i go into the catalyst control centre and click on graphics hardware and it says
Maximum Bus SettingPCI Express 2.0 x8
and
Memory Size1024 MB
my card is 4870x2
should it not be pci express x16
and memory size 2048????

This video was done went the before 4870 x2 was released, and the drivers at the time didn't perform in Crysis as well as they should have, but since the drivers are out now, I don't see how the GTX 280 could win.
