The song is a swipe at all trend followers generally. Although when cross referenced with other tracks it is part of a continual dig at the Leeds music scene. How many bands have found fame through emulation and imitation of the break through Indie bands of the early 00's, Pigeon detectives being one example of this. I think it's a really fair point you're making. While I think it is important for 'The Cribs' to be this way in order to keep their musical ethos and continue to make music that stands out above its peers, I think they skirt a fine line between an acceptable disregard towards poor musical talent being accepted becuase it's trendy and just musical snobbery, which is seen all too often.Its like when people are a massive fan of a band until they happen upon success and then dislike them because

they're on the radio. 'The Killers' are a really good example of this as they were the stand out band of 2005 but have now becomed scorned within musical cliques. The difference, I believe, is that 'The Cribs' aren't like this. 'Kasier Chiefs', perhaps the most successful band from this most recent surge in Indie popularity remain good friends with 'The Cribs'. I think the reason for this is ashared view that muscial evolution requires more than 2 years insight. IE. You're music isn't going to
