The problem with your idea of liberty is that the only people with actual freedom are the people with money. They can do what they want, of course, but the rest can't, the rest are oppressed by them. So if you want to give freedom to the rest of the people you have to take it away from the ones that own it exclusively, because they won't give it away generously as they smile. It's deluded to think they will.

I'm sorry, but when you say that a group "imposing themselves over" another group is not a bad thing, then I must disagree. It's always a bad thing when a group (defined either by economical status, race or whatever) imposes anything against some other group. There are only individuals, and imposing the will of one against the will of another is always a bad thing.

Huh? Why do you pay tax? Tax comes from all the people who have work and they also have benefids from it. Do you want a good Health care system for ALL AMERICANS or only the rich? Think about it. They are really working on those waitinglists.
And yes for some surgery there is a waintinglist because a lot of people will need or want surgery. And there are only so many specialists around.
But if you have cancer or a lifetreathening disease you come first.
In the USA if you don't have insurance or the insurance company does not want to pay YOU DIE!!!
How on earth is it possible that an American who has insurance NEEDS to call his ensurance first to get the GO AHEAD from them??

If we allow insurance companies to compete across state lines, then yes. Absolutely. Look at Hong Kong and Singapore. Anyway, I personally think healthcare vouchers would be the best compromise. Just like school vouchers. Give everyone a voucher which covers a certain premium, and then anything else comes out of pocket. It brings the competitiveness and high quality of the market, along with the all inclusiveness of a government safety net.

That's the problem. How easy is it for a person on a mediocre job that requires no formal education going to expect to have a good paying job? What about the student that struggles to survive? Or the uneducated that bounces from job to job because they aren't valued? Insurance is only given to the rich and the educated. The rest struggle to survive.

God you are ignorant! I thought I read in the Bible about how Jesus helped the poor and told his followers that it was their obligation to do so too. Why are Americans so scare and ignorant about the reality of a national healthcare plan? First of all, it won't turn you into a "socialist" country! haha. One payer system is the only way to go.
Private health insurance is a private tyranny that only exists in United States. It's a rather barbaric system that tells you you're health is only worth what you can afford.
People in United States should get behind, and support, HR 676. If you don't know what it is learn about it! GM & Ford are going bankrupt because of the rising cost of health care. If United States had single-payer system, the companies wouldn't have to worry about it.
