Profit out of sick people does sound a bit cold-hearted but it is necessary. Doctors, nurses, medical equipments, facility management, all need money to be maintained. No one will do it for free. Even if you have a government sponsored program, the money still comes out of the tax payers. The bottom line is profit is needed to keep these services available.

Prior to the revolution Cuba was America's brothel, and has been held back by the embargo put on it by America. I'm not saying its the best country in the world, not by a long shot, I'm also massively opposed to the Cuban civil liberties record. It is worth noting however that Cuba has one of the best educational and medical services of all Latin American countries.

I'm a social democrat. I believe not only in providing for the underprivileged and protecting their freedom to act unrestrained by their social or economic background or situation. Also if you wanna stimulate an economy effectively you don't use "trickle-down", that is a fallacy. Redistribution of wealth with a social-market means a larger percentage of the population has a disposable income to invest back into the economy and stimulate further growth. *Personal political propaganda done.*
