This is also called the hate scene, instead of the love scene, because it was known that they didn't get along very well on the set. Sean was only 21 years old and a newcomer to the movie industry. From what I've read, I guess that Harrison Ford could've been a bit more tolerant with her, and perhaps more supportive, as a more experienced and older actor. When there's a "bad chemistry" between 2 people in workplace it can be hell! But the performances of both are just magical! She's beautiful!

What you say is perfectly plausible. The fact that she was very young doesn't give her the privilege of innocence. There is a long history of trouble and clash on the set: Kubrick and Shelley Duvall in The Shining, Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren in Marnie, Claire Bloom and Julie Harris in The Haunting, Joan Crawford and Sterling Hayden in Johnny Guitar, just to name a few. For us, outsiders, it's hard to say where the envy, the bullying and the harassment in all these moments started.

Sean Young has a gorgeous face; she was extremely stunning and sexy in this film, and such a cute mouth on her! This film is such an achievement for cinema history; its themes alone are extremely poignant and handled so brilliantly. This is the only philosophical film I can recall in my lifetime. It had always reminded me of some beautiful place Id been as a child; the sensational Vangelis score alongside the dark noir bold visuals always makes me feel happily sad, and in awe.

This scene in particular gives me a sense of warmth in a cold place; something to do with memories... It really raises the question of human existence and how it would be 'like a rolling stone', without a home. Ridley Scott was born to make this film. It raises such brilliant questions... the author of DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP and screenwriters Hampton Fancher and David Peoples deserve much credit for the film. The alignment of cast & crew is what created the universe of BLADE RUNNER.

Hi Vizier88. I actually said it weeks ago, so I could as well mention one of my sources: the book "Future Noir - The Making of Blade Runner" edited by Harper Prism and written by Paul M. Sammon. Chapter IX - "Blood Runner: Friction on the Set", concerns that subject and others like the overwhelming tension between the british and american crews, and the american crew feelings of being underaprecciated by the english director Ridley Scott. I think this is a wonderful book for any BR fan.

this movie is about mortality and what it means to be human. It is a science fiction story about someone who hunts down rogue androids. It is one of the finest films ever made. You should see it. Look for the final cut. Look for the "Final Cut" version on dvd.

this is what a violent world does to people.
both these characters have been dehumanized, so to speak. neither knows how to express pure love and hence the stumbling,initial violence and awkwardness. this is my favorite movie of all time.
