BSS is a collaborative band which most band members belong to other bands, which are locally Canadian for the most part. Like Metric, Stars, Feist, etc etc.

All the band members are Canadian. It's like the cream of the crop! At concerts they gather whomever is available. A few of the band members who are French Canadian have also started a third instrumental band which is largely unknown. Honestly, sometimes I'm really surpised that a lot of people know about Broken Social Scene outside of Canada because they don't get a lot of air time in Canada. Good for you for knowing the bands.
