You didn't bro, you didn't create a misunderstanding. I loved your comment right in the midst of debates on the Bear and the Tiger, you roll out "You Tube Rocks" is awesome.Your awesome man, thumbs up! I sincerely meant to give you a positive and accidently hit the thumbs down. One too many beers. LOL! I'll get it right this time. We need more people like you to cut the tension with a "where did that come from" comment! Good job Rich!

That's the hardest I've laughed in at least a year. Thx goblin072. Perfect setup and delivery! I grew up with Jack and I'm growing old with Tiger. I still say that Nicklaus would top Woods on average if the equipment and competitors were the same. I say prime to prime on that. Besides Tiger who are the Watson's, Player's, Trevino's, Palmer's, Casper's, Miller's, and many more of todays players. Hmmh? Phil, Ernie, Uh..he missed Faldo, Seve, and Greg..Uh..Tiger, great player but perfect timing!

I agree, whats with the easy as pie rough. Let them play a tough northern Mi course. There is no rough, just trees. I met Rocco at Tree Tops, he said the tour would have problems breaking par on the that course. Let that rough grow to 10 inches and watch them cry!
Further advancing ... ( 4 months ago by emncaity)
Further advancing your theory that most Tour courses, and even some U.S. Open courses, have rough that's too playable: Tiger Woods hit 53% of the fairways at this year's Open, and he won. I don't care if you're Tiger Woods or Jesus Christ himself, if you're winning the Open hitting only half the fairways, something ain't right.

And yeah, boy, was that Oakland Hills rough unbelievable. Amazing what happens when there's a premium for driving it in the fairway. As it turns out, you had Sergio--who's been hitting the ball mostly great, and driving the hell out of it, since the Players; and Paddy, who is suddenly turning into a great ballstriker and something close to a viable challenger.
And for you Tiger ... ( 4 months ago by emncaity)
And for you Tiger fans (OK, I'm one too, sort of), he wouldn't have won this one anyway. He has yet to win a single major--and I think a single tournament--in bad weather. It's the SoCal thing; SoCals have always had a rep of tending to be more affected by wind and other kinds of bad weather. Other than Tiger, where have the last several greatest American players come from? Places like Kansas City, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, W. Virginia.

lol, are you guys kidding me? how much more magic does tiger have to produce till everyone finally bows down?
tiger is MUCH more physically dynamic than jack. jack raised the bar for his era and tiger has raised it further. if tiger was back in the 60's, he'd still be the best. he has the same qualities as jack......but just a little more.
they usually crumble when playing tiger, and the times they dont crumble, tiger edges them out. even jack admits tiger is on another level.
The only reason ... ( 4 months ago by sretsam68)
The only reason Tiger has reached the level he is at is due to Nicklaus' accomplishments.
.....and jack was ... ( 4 months ago by sqwis)
.....and jack was inspired by jones etc. etc.
some people in here talk as if they have never really tried to accomplish any major goals. dont give me the graduating from college crap. everyone has done that but not too many have raised the bar in a given field.
yeah, tiger just looked at jack, went to sleep and woke up as the games best. it didnt take any ounce of monumental self endeavor with the world watching your every move with a microscope.
yeah, tiger should be greatful.
You missed the ... ( 4 months ago by sretsam68)
You missed the point. Jack was inspired. But he took the standard further than Tiger will take the standard Nicklaus set. If the standard is total majors, Jack has 20 vs. Jones' 13 -- 7 more or a 54% increase. If it is pro majors, Jack has 18 vs. Hagen's 11 -- 7 more or a 64% increase. To Tiger's credit, he will likely exceed 18, but not to the degree Jack passed Jones and Hagen. You never heard Jack focused on 13 majors or 11. All we've heard about is Tiger's desire to break Jack's 18.
As far as the ... ( 4 months ago by sretsam68)
As far as the media's obsession with Tiger? He and his Dad brought that on voluntarily. Tiger should be "greatful" (grateful) to the players before him as will future players be of them and Tiger.
A lot of guys my ... ( 4 months ago by Goynes42)
A lot of guys my age and younger, who grew up in the TigerMania era, tend to forget just how much magic guys like Jack, Arnie, Player, Hogan etc., produced as well. I mainly blame the media for that. All those guys were on the same top competitive level as Tiger, Phil and other media darlings these days, with the same killer instinct.
Think about the ... ( 4 months ago by Goynes42)
Think about the duel between Jack and Tom Watson at the '77 British: Tom drove down the 18th fairway perfectly, and Jack, who was a stroke behind, hit an uncharacteristically errant drive into heavy rough, almost into a gorse bush. Tom's second shot ended up 4 feet from the pin, and Jack, out of 7-inch hay, somehow slammed his ball onto the green, about 30 feet away, and MADE that putt. Tom also made his and won, but not many people in the game can do what Jack did on that hole.

We'll see about that. I think its entirely possible Tiger could end up in the mid 20's

22 at the most and not the longevity Nicklaus had (i.e. 25 years). If Tiger drove the ball straighter, I might agree with you. It will be fun to watch the chase, though.

Tiger has won 6 in the last 4 years. Bearing in mind in the early part of the 3 years he was still undergoing swing changes, and of course this year he had the knee injury. Its actually quite likely I think that Tiger could win another six in the next four years when he will really be in his prime. That would give him 20 and leave him aged around 37. I think he would still have quite a few majors left in him at that age aswell.

I think this is the greatest shot I've ever seen under pressure. The concetration is amazing. Only Tiger compares. To me Jack and Tiger are the only two players I have ever seen that can visualize shots and know exactly where there gonna hit it. The stamina, focus of both of them is unreal. I think that if you put Jack in his prime with today's equipment against Tiger it would be a toss up.
