Well, now that "The Beginning Of The End" has aired, I have officially been blown away. After seeing that, I'm never writing again.
Okay, I'm kidding. But wow. I mean I'll be honest, I thought I had a fighting chance here, but that episode just slammed my ass right back down to Earth where it belongs. Well done, writers. May the studios soon bestow upon you what you clearly deserve.
So about my piece of crap. First off, I cannot STAND Desmond's line with "OMG" in it, for what it's worth. If I could change one thing, that would be it. Had I known it was going to go as far as it has, I would have taken the whole thing a lot more seriously back then!
I'm not even sure what got me started on this. I guess I had always wanted to try and write my own LOST "fanfic" of sorts and try to predict where the next Season was headed. So I started writing on my 15-minute breaks at work and a few weeks later, I had a whole episode.
Don't know if this'll take two or three parts to do the Episode but I'm thinking probably three. All of this Episode was done on MS Paint. I've never used Photoshop before. Basically I looked up Lost Season 3 vids on Youtube, paused the video at certain moments and copied the screen into MS Paint, adding the text and "erasing" characters as needed. On several frames it will be obvious that a character was taken out of the frame by copying a small chunk of jungle or water (which is mostly a repeating "mosaic" pattern anyway) and pasting it several times to cover up the character. Continuity is also a complete NIGHTMARE. Characters' clothes, hair and makeup constantly change from frame to frame 'cause I don't really feel like messing around with all that.
Several issues in the show I haven't really had the chance (or the skill, really) to try and resolve, like the whole Naomi thing. Initially, I had them bringing Naomi back with them and she was still alive. I'm guessing in the actual real episode, there will be a burial service for her, either at the tower or at the beach, who knows.
Incidentally, filming for Season 4 of LOST begins today, so it's kind of serendipitous that I would get the chance to finish this today and post it. All in all, it took about 16 hours to put it together.
Feel free to rip me a new blowhole with problems, omissions, and complete lapses in logic that you may find within the Episode, I'm more than prepared to take it. I'm just in too much of a hurry to get this done now, or maybe to get as many Episodes out as I can before the spoilers come out and people say "Well of COURSE you knew that was gonna happen, it's all over the place on the spoiler boards!"
As for the whole ship deal, that's where I'm putting my cards for now. The ship can't see the island, but the islanders CAN see the ship. So ... well, we'll see how that goes when we get to Part 2!
And yes, for what it's worth, I am making this up as I go along.
