Blacks aren't a ... ( 3 weeks ago by SuperMelon1)
Blacks aren't a mono-cultural group of identical people, where he's from does matter. There are differences between American Blacks, European Blacks, African Blacks, etc and you'd be a fool to deny it. Your definition of "Black" is based entirely on one exclusive group and it's a very unorthodox definition if an African American with European and Native American ancestry is more "Black" than a sub-Saharan African.

Yes i'm basing it off of a African-American point of view assuming he grew up in this country(his english is very fluent and good) He definitely does not look like he was born here but im gonna go ahead and assume he was. My father comes from another country but i was born here. I'm just saying he does not come off as someone who is connected with his roots. roots being the black culture here in america and over seas. people are getting bent all out of shape over the simplest comment.

It's pretty sad that being African-American I'm expected to conform to some ill conceived notion of blackness. Guess what, we created Rock too, someday the idea of an intelligent black man with a guitar will stop making people so insecure.

exjinn is correct. I am not African-American myself but the general streotype that young African-American men are all hip hop and gangster rap enthusiasts is a load of bollox. Apart from the roots and Tv on the Radio, i can't remember the last time i saw a young black male play a guitar live. (although Jay Z had a crack at Glostonbury.) And it was the 50's and 60's blues days in Southern America which really kicked off the whole rock music scene.

That's the problem ... ( 1 day ago by Stefmanovic)
That's the problem with the US racial classification system which is primarily based on the five colours:
-Black (African American, Caribbean, African, Aboriginal, Papua, etc)
-White (European, US, Australia, etc)
-Brown ("Hispanic", Latin America)
-Yellow (Asian)
-Red (indigenous from the American continent)
So it's all kind of odd since these classifications aren't saying that much, only problem is that they are considered so important to some! :S
