Circus Capers

Uploaded by: Tuber77
Video Description:
The animated short starts with the circus parade, then goes to the circus master, who blows his whistle and points to a horse rider who looks a lot like Minnie Mouse. After her performance, she goes backstage, where she is greeted by her boyfriend, a circus clown who looks a lot like Mickey Mouse. The clown performs his act, and it is then the circus master's turn. He attempts to tame a lion by dancing with it, but the lion beats up the circus master, and the clown laughs at him. The circus master, enraged at this humiliation, decides to screw up the clown's next act by putting an entire barrel's worth of gunpowder into the cannon, and lighting it right when the clown enters. The clown is then hurled into the sky, and the circus master and the horse rider go to a private room, where the horse rider caresses the circus master. The circus clown falls into the room, and is heartbroken to see the incident. He then goes outside the room and sings "Laugh Clown Laugh." While he sings the song, the horse rider runs away from the circus master. She comes back to the clown, who blows her a raspberry

this was great! I dont think anyone should give a dime to the circus today because animals are being abused and its disgusting how they are treated but there was a time when it was not about animals and performers did the tricks and it was captivating and creative (:

"a time when it was not about animals." That's not true at all. There have always been elephants and lions and tigers and other precious prancing nature beasts in the circus. And they love it. They love to dance and caper. They love to get beatings when they fail, because it gives them hope for the future.

Seems to be set to a similar theme to the video for Depeche Mode's "Halo", oddly enough... As an aside, when will people learn that clowns are not aerodynamic?
Perhaps I should get a snazzy handlebar moustache going? It seems to have worked well for the circus ringmaster!

Sik? nah Pokemon is sick,
This is a little twisted though
which I like,
The surrealism reminds me of the earliest of
the Fleischer toons,
Although it's a bit different from their work IMHO,
Who made this toon anyways?

Actually it's way different than the Fleischers toons
of this same period
They had an urban setting and always really had an edge to them,
The surrealism does remind me of the Fleischers though in some ways.

I think this is a Van Buren Cartoon. A lot of studios wanted to get in on the huge popularity of Mickey Mouse, so they did copy-cat type cartoons. I think Disney sued Van Buren Co. to keep them from reproducing the Mickey style.
