YES! I got you the original Jesus I Was Evil music video by Darcy Clay!!!! Darcy Clay (Daniel Bolton) was a wicked NZ musician in the 90's and killed himself 2 weeks before performing at an anti-suicide fund-raising concert.
I think in this video there used to be him sniffing a massive line of cocaine between 2:04 - 2:06 but i think the site i got this from removed due to political correctness or something. I am not entirely sure tho...

I'm assuming you heard the butterfingers version first and that's what biased you towards it.
The original version is much better imo, the dirty sound and lazy vocals are what make it. Basically Darcy Clay sounds like he means it when he says it, the butterfingers singer sounds like he's just been given the lyrics and told to sing them. Also the synth crap in the butterfingers vesion just sounds lame...

Are you sure this is the original? I've seen a clip on VHS with him in his state house mixing on the four track, cruising in his car drinking a longneck etc. anybody else remember that version?

This is such a legendary music video from such a talented kiwi. I was doing a film production course when this video came out. I remember the guy who was in the river screaming was really peeved that he was in the video because the director used footage from a short film he produced to put in the music video to fill in some air time. I think it adds to its grunginess. From what I remember the director just cobbled it together last minute and now its a classic. RIP Darcy.

Meh. I like the Butterfingers version better. Possibly because I heard the Butterfingers version first, and only just discovered that it was a remake. Or it could be the fact that listening to this discordant noise is making my ears bleed.
Having good lyrics does not make up for a total lack of talent. No wonder I never heard of this guy.
