The platform DEVELOPED BY HOLDEN is to be used for all rear wheel drive large cars in the GM empire including the new camaro which ... you guessed it ! atekido : yes the engine is american designed ! It's actually the chevy LS3 V8 , the same engine as the corvette , only built in melbourne Australia . You see , the Holden engine facility in Melbourne produces engines that are exported all over the world and are EVEN TRANSPLANTED in alfa romeo's , saab's and a hell of a lot of daewoo vehicles ( which account for most of the smaller vehicles in the chevy range ! ) They are also used in a broader spectrum of the GM family .

If you want to talk facts about GM and Holden facts and figures I can certainly indulge your knoweledge ( or lack thereof ! ) as much as you wish .... see my uncle works for Holden in a very high position and has EVEN met Bob Lutz . He also deals with Holdens racing devision at HSV ... so , if you want to state a comment on GM , feel free to do so and I will gladly respond with facts !

It is actually released in the UK as an opel omega before it comes out with some slight changes as a commodore in australia. But i'm pretty sure i found somewhere that GM in detroit makes the opel omega there before it gets to the UK... It surprised me when i found it too, but all of opel's omega range looks very similar to the holden commodore...

abbazOr ... mate , it is not made ANYWHERE else in the world !!! It is a HOLDEN COMMODORE !!!! Originally in 1979 when the commodore nameplate was first used the then model WAS based on a opel omega platform . WAS being the word here !It is now 2008 and after many different incarnations and body types/platforms it is wholly AUSTRALIAN designed/engineered and MADE ! Holden make this car and export it to every continent on earth . NO ONE else makes the VE COMMODORE !Opel Omega is a different car !
