You are TECHNICALLY correct in that Jefferson owned slave. He got them when he got married. His WIFE owned them and they came along with her. Also the Sally Hemings paterntiy issue ignores the fact that her children could have been father by Jefferson's father. While that evidence IS suspicious, it is NOT conclusive.
I do NOT think that old Tom ever went to a slave market to purchase another human being. Furthermore slave was put into the Constitution by...the South, of course.
