A tungsten bullet with a diamond tip would not deform at all.
Rifle bullets don't actually mushroom; they tumble and may break up. And while they do a lot of damage, one bullet isn't going to come anywhere near cutting someone in half.

Like a few posters have mentioned, the choice of silver bullets was symbolic. He used a precious metal to remind himself that life, too, was precious and should not be wasted. As such, he usually shot to disarm rather than kill.

well james asomction is right 2 a degree... if u read eney reloding manual u will dind maney difrent wates for the bulets and it drpends what u use them for... if u are goign for some thind farther away u want a lighter buler with a flater blaistic plain if u want 2 kill some thing and nock it down in 1 shot u want 2 use a heaver bulet.. an example of this is the 30-06 and the 25-06 30-06 is a lot hever and has morr nockdown power while the 25-06 has a lot longer range and acurcy up 2 500+ yards

but as 2 the coments as a rifle bilet dosnt mush room it also dpends the wate and size of calber but all of them do unles u use a veary spiclized clow calber heavy rond with a strong blaistic arck wich dosnt mushroom as much it brakes up... this is only what us custimized and will never be able 2 by from the stor and not made but all bulets mushroom just not as much as others... i encorage u 2 not to trust me but to lock it up your self beafor u discredit this

The large difference in the result is CLEARLY due to the silver bullet shrinkage--and the lower pressure that would have been created in the chamber and barrel.
The only way to make a fair comparison would have included chronograph measurements.
In this case, due to the differences in diameter, you're comparing apples and oranges.
