Fuck UPS and the crooked Union. Glad i quit 8 years ago and got into construction where u are paid for how hard u work and have benefits with insurance. union protects lazy assholes, i dont know why, and UPS hasnt raised starting pay of 8.00 or 8.50 for over twentyfive years. Both suck each other off. What about Ron Carey and the strike fun disappearing back in 96? Blow me assholes...

Labor has been vilified in the US since unions first started forming. Organized labor is anathema to the sort of unbridled free-market capitalism that holds reign here. It is dependent upon a workforce which is passive and easily manipulated. Just look at how successful big business interests have been in curbing organization, especially here in the Southern US where I live. They claimed unions are unpatriotic, or socialist, or some other such nonsense so the workers don't rise up.

i've worked part time ups 9 years now. this video is true. because there is no legaldefinition for the word "volume", ups manipulates the system by not creating full time work when it is apparant that there is opportunity to do so. ups is taking alot of volume from usps and dhl and continues to claim low volume to screw its employees out of full time work when it is not true, yet the management continues to get bonusses. you really cant blame ups for having a strike.

Thank God for the Teamsters. Otherwise UPS would be another Fed-Ex or Wal-mart. We are paid fairly and have great benefits. Surely management are liars and as demonstrated in this video will do anything to have their cake and eat it too, the Teamsters even the scales and see to it we are treated better than much of middle class blue collor corporate America.

i worked parttime last fall for ups. i slogged for four months and got just 1300 bucks.
now the teamsters used to take out $25 initiation fee every 2 weeks and $38 for dues/ month. ups said i could get back my init. fees once laid off.the teamsters lady told me i couldn't.on top of that, when i'm laid off they send me a dues bill and it is coumpounded with late fees every time, got suspended. most ups workersaren't well educated and the teamster take huge advantage of this.
teamsters screwed me.

btw, why would they send me a due bill when they took out cash from my paycheck beforehand? i am very suspicious.
and fed ex pays a starting salary of $13.30 here in northern california. ups only 8.85 bucks. almost a 5 dollar difference per hour.

Fed-ex treats their employees like shit and you have to deal with it. Secondly, you have to pay out of your ass for benefits with Fed-ex. Thirdly, Fed-ex work is "at will" meaning you can be laid off or fired at any time for no reason.
I am not sure about the dues part. Get a good laywer regarding that. My opinion - the union "believes" that they did not withdraw the correct amount and are catching up to what should hae been extracted. Not knowing your case I can't specify anything

Another thought - seeing you only made 1300$ in 4 months, you probably did not work enough hours to qualify for benefits via union dues. If you do not make 750 hours in 3 months, you have to pay out of your pocket for benefits to make up the difference. 750x 9 = 6700 roughly, so if you only made 1300$, you clearly did not work enough hours.

I made the cover of the L.A. Times Foothill Edition in 1997. I was a package driver, I had a reoccuring work related injury that UPS always took care of. After my participation in the Strike of 1997, I was later terminated for filing a work comp claim that UPS had always taken care of.
I later contacted Michael Moore regarding my wrongful termination. I filed a claim for wrong termination and Gibson, Dunn, and Crutcher would not give me my job back.
