It was also a step towards alot of other good things. I doubt America would be as great as it is today if we didn't have a Constitution.
Just because something can be used for tyranny doesn't mean it will be.

True, except for the 10th amendment that says:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. This SHOULD HAVE BEEN a major limiting factor of Fedthug power, however the supreme court hasn't been so good about enforcing it.

I cannot vote for Barr since he voted for the Patriot Act. He may say he regrets it, but he had the chance to vote against it. I am not so sure Barr isn't a Neocon plant. I also think the comments about Baldwin being a theocrat are not true. Baldwin has stated in his most recent newsletter by email that he supports everyone's religious rights, including the right to NOT worship God if that is their choice.

Why is it necessary to organize into a single United States? What's the difference between that and organizing many nations into a United Nations?
Even if I agreed with the need for a Union (which I don't), the Articles of Confederation would have been better, because they created a weaker central government than did the Consitution.

The only good thing about the Constitution, I think, is free movement and trade between the states. The Bill of Rights is nice too, but it hasn't been effective.

Oh, and I don't mind Paul's endorsement of Baldwin that much. Baldwin's far from perfect, but at least he restrict US aggression to within our borders. I heard Barr say that the US should maintain military bases across the world.

Have you read the ENTIRE constitution? If not you should. The only reason it has been ineffective is because we the people have let it become so. He is on your states ballot as a write in. Chuck Baldwin opposes gay marriage, just like OBAMA & MCCAIN. He doesn't oppose gay rights to live as they choose or to enter into contracts. I have to disagree. The problem is complacency. As Jefferson noted in the Declaration of Independence.

As long as people consider themselves "comfortable" most will not stand up.
