thats a good point and your right, but at this moment in time i say that lampard has been more consistant so id say hes the better of the 2 so far this season coz gerrard has had injuries. in 2004 and 05 i think lamps was better, then gerrard in 06 and 07 and i think they were pretty even last season. once gerrard gets his injury completely behind him and hits some good form i think he'll outshine lampard coz he is a world class midfielder, they both are.

gerrard seems to play better than gerrard coz lampard has better players around him which takes the spotlight off him a bit, while gerrard runs the show at liverpool and thats not a disrespectful mark towards gerrard coz no doubt hes done a good job over the years. chelsea sign big name players which takes the spotlight away from lampard more and more while the only player liverpool signed to take spotlight away from gerrard was torres.

the simple truth is, gerrard is miles better than lampard,if lampard doesnt score in a game you dont notice that hes played. gerrard makes a contribution whether he scores or not, jan 20th 2007 summed lampard up perfectly. liverpool won 2-0 and lampard was non existent, no midfield minders looking after him thats why, lampard relies on 2 defensive midfielders behind which gives lampard the licence to be lazy and just concentrate on scoring goals, in a 4 man midfield lampard cannot cope
