"Eleanor Rigby" is a song by The Beatles, originally released on the album Revolver by EMI/Parlophone Records. The song was primarily written by Paul McCartney, although in an interview conducted with Playboy magazine in 1980 shortly before he died, John Lennon claimed that, at McCartney's request, he completed the lyrics to the second and third verse.

Being a great singer requires the discipline not to lose or destroy too much of a song's inherent melody for the sole purpose of making it "your own". There are exceptions, but so many modern-day "singers" (often "vocal acrobats" and American Idol-styled "vibrato junkies") don't have the GIFT of or "ear for" melody and rhythm. All too often the message (lyric) or spirit of a SONG gets lost as a result BAD phrasing choices.
Only the best singers and song interpreters can be called "artists".

yup, a prime example would be beyonce, leona lewis, and just about everyone who's ever got far in the X factor/pop idol. Vocal virtuosos, who haven't got the slightest interest in the emotion of a song, behind the glazed eyes their doubtlessly thinking about their new lipstick contract. Utterly shit music, and nothing but a marketable image for the sake of cash cash cash. but i digress..

This is just one of those eternally great songs. Its equation is just some violins, cellos and Paul's simple observation. As a child I always pictured "Father McKenzie, wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave.." ment that McKenzie turned into a zombie. Guess I saw too many horror movies. Anyways, the lonely people, let us keep an eye and heart for them.
