watch out for the cell phones.. Like Cars, like smoking!! Some will DIE!! I can Prove my point and show my study... That a lot of poeple will die in thier lives!!! In my study it shows that people who INHALE oxygen will die!!! No one can show me other wise!!!! I am so sure of my study that I will give 1,000,000,000 dollars to the person whp proves me wrong.. ALL THE PEOPLE ON PHONES! SOMEONE WILL DIE FROM THE SAME THING

Note the emphasis on the "heavy" use. All things in moderation. Listen carefully to what the guys says and don't take his comments out of context.

That is correct - we just do not have enough data on mobile phone radiation at the moment. Patrick Dixon

I agree with you - the risk does seem to be very low in normal use and may be lower still with 3G technology which emits radiation in a different pattern.

Yes - I use them myself . But I would not want a young child of ours to be using one for long periods every day. Following UK government advice.

Yes that is what I am saying - very heavy use for a long period. But even then I expect future studies to confirm that the risks are low - compared to many other things we do everyday.
The argument about ... ( 5 months ago by comeonlet1)
The argument about not having enough data is bogus. How else would the FCC be able to set exposure limits for manufacturers. A phone's Specific Absorption Rate can be up to 1.6 W/(Kg of body tissue) and still comply with regulations. At 1.6 W/Kg, it only takes 30 min to heat 1 lobe of your brain by 1 degree C. That's 2 degrees for an hour phone call. The scientific evidence is there. However, it's left up to the consumer to decide whether they want to play Russian roulette with their brains.

I wish that setting a level was as simple as having answers. Easy to set level for exposure. Hard to prove long term impact with short term data. Fact is we have only been using mobiles for short time and new generation mobiles create different patterns of radiation than old (3G) so we need fresh studies which will take up to 20-30 years to full data on 20-30 year exposure risk.I think it will turn out that the risk is very small for say a 60 minutes a day of use, but cannot be 100% certain.

Wow, a public speaker that doesn't outright condemn the use of cellphones even with children using it.
So, you are stating caution, but not mindless frenzy.
My guess is that cell phone EMF is not good for the user, but it's not a death sentence.
Thanks

I think it's presumptuous to assume that new generation phones are any safer than 3rd Generation phones. In fact they may be several times more hazardous. But that's exactly the point, 20 more years of research are needed before these devices can be proven to be safe and until then, their use should be discontinued. If drug companies are subjected to several years of clinical trials before being able to release a drug, why should cell phone companies get away with releasing untested technology

Your brain, spine and nerves work with an almost unmeasurable amount of electricity. If anybody thinks this equipment is not hurting you then the cells needed to understand this simple fact have been destroyed. Think about it, do you really need proof? Are you actually going to wait 20 years before someone tells you this? If so, then you are playing their game of chance, and they will win as all they want is your money and that they will have in only 2 years. I'll pass!

"The future is not about science but about emotion"?
And this quack is a physician?! Had he been my doctor I would have switched immediately. The future is *all* about science! The *past* is about emotions! About scares, fears, paranoia and wild unsubstantiated claims.
For a *physician* to stand there and say that the future is not about science is about as dumb as saying that medicine is not about healing people. Someone *please* take away his license!

We used to lack the science needed to understand our world, our health and our lives. claims about witchcraft, miasms or phony cures like homeopathy were running rampant.
These days we don't lack these tools any more and science is getting better and better at establishing methods which we can use to increase our objective knowledge. Science is the future... not the past. This guy is a fearmonger and does not deserve to be listened to if he tries to downplay the importance of science.

Ok... I just listened to the entire clip again. My previous two comments were written in haste and may have been very unfair to the speaker. I would very much like to hear the context of this clip... because it seems he may be warning about the controversy, not the EM effects themselves.

Thanks - this is a short clip within a longer presentation on global trends of many kinds. If you want more have a look at my main site globalchange and add com and you will find articles - some quite long - on the research into mobile phone radiation risks. My overall view having looked closely at evidence is that risks seem to be very small to users (higher in children), but market impact could become significant as people are not always able to be rational about low probability risks.
Hmm you ... ( 2 months ago by pjvdixon)
Hmm you misunderstand me.I wish the future of medicine was just about science but just look at the number of people who spend huge amounts of their own money on treatments for which there is little scientific evidence of benefit. Science, technology, innovation - what decides how actually used, and impact they have, as history shows, is not knowledge itself, but whether people want to use it, how want to use it, willingness to pay etc. Video of course is exaggerating a little to make us think.
Ok, then I ... ( 2 months ago by mkarnerfors)
Ok, then I understood you right in the second listening. My pardons for the harsh comments... feel free to remove them because I completely misunderstood you at first.
Actually, I have great hopes that the future *will* be about science. People are becoming more sceptical, that is to say they want *evidence* before they trust an alarmist. Sure there are still weatehr vanes who will believe anything as long as it tries to poke companies or governments in the eye. (cont)
(cont.d) But the ... ( 2 months ago by mkarnerfors)
(cont.d) But the weather vaners are starting to face stiff opposition to scientific sceptics. And people in general are getting tired of tabloids pumping out new "alerts" every weeks. So I truly believe we are heading in the right direction. Science is slow on the pick-up but once it gains momentum I expect it to be able to relegate quackers, alarmists and other muckrackers back to the fringes.
So... I think that the future is science... and that undue emotions will be stared down.

Your comments are those of an empire drone, an idiot programmed by the control culture who has not realised that video.google The Money Masters, JT Gatto, The Brotherhood of Darkness has petri-dish cultured all of what you understand through the scientific and social foundations and institutions they have founded and subfoststered by virtue of their franchise to create unlimited unaudited amounts of fake money out of nothing but their confidence in our stupidity and ignorance.

True dat. You only have to leave your croissant in the micro for longer than 30 seconds to have it turned into rubber, proving that microwaves change biological chemistry. "Microwave Oven Ratiation Test PART 1 - LEAKAGE" shows how much radiation leaks out from a microwave oven, pretty scary. I've stopped using mine unless in dire need and then I leave the room while its on. I used one for a year before I figured out: its screwing up ALL the food, only some items show it more.
