I've been playing Bass clarinet for 11 years and I'm just now learning how to play most of Dolphy's harder songs. The fact that I've been working on the same song for 7 months and am only halfway done sohould tell you something about how amazing his songs are.

Nobody will ever be able to achieve what Dolphy was able to achieve on the bass clarinet again, he was THE most dynamic player, no one else even comes close.

You are supposed to use a peg, like on a bass violin. Look at the bottom of the bend in the bell, there is a receptacle for the peg. Now go get one.

I just thought about the fact, that Anthony Braxton, Roscoe Mitchell, Joseph Jarmen, Henry Threadgill, did not really, play/ mess with the bass clarinet. Dolphy sure could play some shit, over changes.
