the sensor bar dosnt get connected.
On the wii, the real sensor bar just gets power from the Wii, it dosn't send data to it. The wiimote see's the infrared and it can position its self. it send where it is to the wii via blutooth. you can cut off the connection to the wii and just attach a battery and it will still work.

1. The sensor bar is only an IR LED array. It is static. The word sensor is a misnomer in "Sensor Bar". A good example is; you can also use two candles instead of a sensor bar... Figure out the Voodoo there.
2.A USB Bluetooth dongle connects to the wiimote, which contains ALL sensors.

3. Your laptop IR port is one point of reference and the wiimote needs 2. Also you would have to have your laptop constantly sending a signal to its IR port for the wiimote to pick it up. (side note: most frequencies work, but the higher the better).
4. The point is: It replaces a mouse and/or controller setup on your computer. You CAN play anything that you could on your PC otherwise.
This is very cool, That guys review was misinformed.

when I did my A-Level in Electronics at high school, i discovered that it really isn't a good idea to connect LEDs to a 9V supply! (they tend to get #VERY# hot, start smoking and explode!)
Generally you should go no higher that 5V, and always make sure they are in series with a resistor.
