Of course, this all depends somewhat on whether Republicans think they can win, wich in turn depends on whether the likely Dem nominee is Hillary. If it's anyone else I think the Republicans will quite legitimately give up hope and vote for unelectable candidates like Huckabee and Ron Paul. Even in that situation, I can't see either of them beating Romney.

Brushing aside for a moment his policies, which are dire, the man has no chance of winning the nomination, let alone the election. In fact I'd put solid money on the fact he won't win a single primary or caucus. The man is a kook, who has employed such novelly suicidal campaign strategies as using hookers to help him raise cash and emplying hacker-spammers to distribute literature. Smart.

Good polls - and most are pretty good - will include Ron Paul's name. That's how I know he is polling at around 8% (form memory) making him a second/third tier candidate at best. Oh, and these days they sample people with mobile phones as well. Denial is more than a river in Egypt.
