The thing with any media is that it is good tool but cannot replace the live human being's "heart-wave" so to speak: a pice of knowledge or information given by a live teacher has this wave intertwined into the signal and it is highly personal because the teacher is SEEING his students, there is CONNECTION and HEART while media (digital or else) is not sentient being. This is not to say that media cannot or shall not be used as a support in an artful way...

so what? the world is changing, technology is changing, people are changing. Its the same as saying in the 1800's the average kid rode a horse 3 hours a week, or churned butter for 2 hours a week. This video is pure garbage. And btw, I use a computer over 10 hours per week

Continue to spread the message. People need to understand that technology is part of our society. Most jobs require knowledge of how to use computers and printers. Yet, in schools, they are not giving an opportunity to use a computer or a printer until middle school. And even then, most are only taught how to use a word processing program. How power point or keynote? What aboout trouble shooting a printer? How about downloading an educational vidoe from teachertube to your ipod?. Hum?

Wouldn't some of the technology-integration suggested be a form of discrimination. What if a student doesn't have a particular "new" device that a teacher is using--for example, international text messaging costs more, that would be financial discrimination against poorer students.

I am a teacher who has their students creating blogs, using message boards, collaborating with other classrooms around the country/world, and has considered how I might use texting to inform my teaching. Yet, a STRONG point must be made about the role of the teacher. only human beings are capable of identifying a student's misconception, then providing the right information or right question to help that student reach accurate ideas. Simply reading or seeing does not equal accurate learning.
