Liberals want to be your Mommy.
Conservatives want to be your Daddy.
Libertarians want to treat you like an adult.
Are top news stories are about fucking paris hilton or some other hollywood douche bag
US also has a high standerd. its difficult to tell which is higher.
A very good point but...
Libertarians only see the state as their abusive parent. They ignore how capitalism, private property, and the free market are also abusing authorities as well.
Only anarachism (the political definition) wants to treat you like an adult.
Adults don't need a government!
Secondly, you seem to be implying that 0-gov't libertarianism is opposed to "collectivism." That would be absurd. Human life is always a mixture of both collectivism and individualism.
3rd: OK, there is a difference between us on hierarchy. I don't have a problem with people voluntarily entering into hierarchical relationships. Question: would you use physical force to stop people from doing that?
4. Every economic system uses capital and is thus by definition 'capitalist.' Even voluntary socialism.
I think that's a red herring. The real issue it seems is who owns the capital. Ie. Are people free to own it or does the State restrict them?
Or, as Peter Kropotkin put it, anarchy comes from the Greek words meaning "contrary to authority". [Kropotkin's Revolutionary Pamphlets, p. 284]
There are more authorities and hierarchies than simply government.
I don't see a problem with voluntarily chosen hierarchies or authorities. Do you?
