A Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash - trailer

Uploaded by: bml
Video Description:
"The Age of Oil — 100-plus years of astonishing economic growth made possible by cheap, abundant oil — could be ending without our really being aware of it. Oil is a finite commodity. At some point even the vast reservoirs of Saudi Arabia will run dry. But before that happens there will come a day when oil production 'peaks,' when demand overtakes supply (and never looks back), resulting in large and possibly catastrophic price increases that could make today's $60-a-barrel oil look like chump change...

If the world pulls ... ( 4 months ago by itstakentoo)
If the world pulls 100 million barrels a day a lot of people would sure like to know where those extra 15 million barrels are hiding everyday. I read about the oil crises everyday and have never even seen anyone claim 100 million but you.
You are correct I got it wrong on the gallons the only thing you got right at all most people measure oil in barrels so I don't feel to bad about it. Your short answer yes means you lose. I hope you learned something I learned you are badly informed and dumb.

So we have over 1.6 trillion barrels of known reserves in the USA alone that the Democrap party has blocked us from harvesting because they hate growth and business AND they hate people. This is a man-made problem... easy solution ship the hippies to Toronto and let Americans and Albertans harvest oil and we will be back at 89 cents a gallon in 16 months.

Most people talk about how much Barrels of oil is used for gasoline a day by the Gasoline industry that the Oil Industry sells oil to.
Oil is also used to make Carbon Fiber,Plastic, nylon,Polyester,Fertilizer, pesticides, silicone, synthetic rubber, polyurethane (foam cups),vinyl, and even synthetic medicines. Those industries also by Oil from "Big Oil"

Actually you are the subservient Thrall believing whatever you are told without question and don't even realize it.
Your Masters are proud of your progress, I'm sure, except for the predictable and typical attacking someone personally instead of sticking to the topic when you run out of things to say from your brainwashed pre-programmed spoon fed arsenal

Oh, 1.6 trillion gallons. So we have some more weeks before it runs out. Well, that's gonna change everything. The question is thus not, if it runs out, but when. Your not arguing for solving the problems, you ask to merely buy some time.
ok shadaik you are ... ( 3 months ago by mayb880)
ok shadaik you are too uniformed to comment on energy. Oil trades in BARRELS not gallons friend. Huge difference.
The Democraps have blocked drilling off of 80% of the US coast. They block drilling in northern Alasak, the Democraps have made it so that their hasn't been a refinery built in the USA in 35 years. This is a man made price spike... thanks to Liberals that want the economy to crash so we become a far left-socialist crap country with Democraps in control.
Drill here Drill now.

Yeah, miswrote. Big deal. Thing is, the Alaskan oil is still merely buying some time. So I exagerated - it will probably suffice for some years, maybe up to a decade. And after that?

ok shad you don't have a clue... go comment on something that you know something about like bras and shoes.
"the Alaskan oil is still merely buying some time" ROFL moron... is 114 years enough time? Add to that the 102 years worth of PROVEN reserves in WY, UT, SD, CO and the 84 years just found off the coast of Brazil. Not to mention we haven't hardly drilled at all in Russia or any of the former USSR.
The oil shortage is made by Liberals, asshole Democraps that want us all poor.

The world will soon be SWIMMING in crude oil. It was a great bull market but it's over. Amen.
114 years? Either ... ( 3 months ago by shadaik)
114 years? Either you're british (because a british trillion is 1,000,000 times more than an american one) or you don't know how much oil we use up. Hint: The US alone consumes 20 million barrels per DAY.
While it is a reasonable number to say that the field lasts for 114 years, the more important question is wether it can dig up enough oil per day to keep us running for so long. At this rate, one average year of drilling gives us ten weeks of oil.
and lets not forget ... ( 3 months ago by mar8les)
and lets not forget, that the economy will grow, and the demand for oil will grow. We are in trouble people, kid youreself that america still has oil if you want. But you honestly believe that America would go to war in iraq to protect oil, if they had it in their backyard - a war that is serioulsy damaging the us economy. Please, its running out people - its a limited resource. Don't try to dodge the bullet - its too late.
ok mayb you don't ... ( 3 months ago by MurseCanary)
ok mayb you don't have a clue either. ad hominem attacks on shadaik & "democraps" won't change the facts: ANWR is not the silver bullet to our energy woes. Why would we over-extend the empire to Iraq, possibly Iran, (Georgia?) if we have enough oil at home? The Repugnicants rhetoric is misleading, we can't drill our way out of this problem--that's junkie mentality, we must change. Bush said himself "we're addicted to oil". His former energy advisor, Matt Simmons, says peak oil's for real.
IF this is a man ... ( 3 months ago by MurseCanary)
IF this is a man made price spike it's due to evil men (Bush/Ahmadinejad) threatening war & speculators cashing in..Oil companies haven't invested in new refining capacity cos it's too costly to build. Did you know the GOP opposed higher CAFE standards at every turn when they had Congress--now they are opposing alternative energy legislation so as not to hand the Dems an election year victory. Politics before progress, now THAT is sedition.
ATTENTION: ... ( 2 months ago by fooschnikens)
ATTENTION: Apparently chevron oil (corrupt American oil company) bought the rights to NiMH battery technology so they could prevent auto manufacturers from using it to build more efficient hybrid vehicles and force us to keep buying gasoline. The name of the company that produced the NiMH batteries used to be Ovionic Battery Systems, but Chevron and Texaco bought the company and changed the name to Cobasys and made it impossible for auto manufacturers to buy the batteries. Search it for yourself
you know alaska ... ( 2 months ago by shityshit5)
you know alaska only has 15 billion barrels of oil in their reserves. That would palliate the prices only by 10 and the process to extract it takes about 10 years. We just need alternatives its not about democrats or republicans. Even with alternatives with 6.6 billion people on the planet it might too late to have a large scale switchover to alternatives. If the human population was 1 billion oil and the enviroment would never have been an issue.

Well i sure hope your right. In 2003 only 1 mega oil field was discovered. A mega oil field is an oil field which contains about 500million barrels of oil. Today we use about 85 million barrely a day around the world. I am sure you can work out that the main oil discovery of 2003 would be used up in about 6 days at this consumption rate. Leaving a lot of oil to be used up over the rest of the year from reserves discovered many years ago. It will not last forever.

obviously you don't trade in the futures or equity markets. Oil has PLUMMETED in October down over 35% this month alone and down 45% from it's peak. Gas is now only $2.10 again here where I live in the USA.
Cheap gas is back :)
