As a German I have to admit that you are right. America's lost a lot of reputation here in recent years, mainly because of your President. America's people are called superficial, arrogant and dumb. But I spent some time in Britain and over there it's even worse, they hate your country. Jimmy, he's right, your about to watch the unraveling of a massive empire, and your oing to watch it as itll slowly tumble and spin, hundreds of years in the making is about to be thrown in the toilet, but hey, he named a couple of other examples of such, why look at the USSR, Roman Empire, Nazi Republic, all fell, however fell much faster due to the instability, and the US couldve lasted much longer, had the populace been more educated.

The U.S. is not its government. It is not the people in the White House or Congress who define American culture that is ludicrous to limit over 305,000,000 people into the Bush Administration. This country is big and rich with many many different cultures and people. I have a lot of hope with all those people, who create their own culture in their own local communities.

I was in France in 2004 and American hating was common, but honestly it was ignorant, because many just believe all they here in their media. And the media does manipulate, regardless of what country you're in. The U.S. is doing many serious, wrong, and inhumane things, but their are MANY Americans currently fight against this. There are many organizations that address all kinds of issues, immigrations advocates, Palestinian rights, consumerism, everything!

This ignorance goes both ways. I'm from Europe and I agree with you.
I do think there are a lot of ignorant Americans, but I also know that I can't generalize a country with so many differences. And I hope that you, and other Americans, realize that you can't generalize a continent of about 50 different countries either. There are ignorant and stupid people in both Europe and USA. But what I don't think you can deny is that your government is pretty bad. Though hopefully Obama will change that

I'm no fan of the Bush Adminstration, but Blair tucked in right behind so we in the UK can hardly claim the moral high ground. At least in the US there is now a chance to change course, whereas here is the UK it is just a choice of more of the same or changing to the Conservatives - which is virtually no change at all. It's all quite depressing!
