Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's not true LOL.
Porsche Carrera GT - 605Bhp / 3043lb
Wrighspeed X1 - 220Bhp / 1536lb
As you can see the 'heavy' Porsche still has a better power to weight ratio than the EV.
The Porsche has approx 3x the horse power of the EV yet weighs only 2x as much. To make it a 'fair' race and even up the hp/ton ratio the EV needs to turn up with 307hp, approx 40% more than what it has.
What you're seeing is an Electric Motor with 100% torque from zero rpm. Any ICE is simply beaten as soon as it drops the clutch.
The 300hp supercharged Atom that weighs only 1005lb does EXACTLEY the same 0-60 (3 sec)and 1/4 mile time (11.5) as the EV which has only 220hp and weighs 1536lb.
So it's just as fast with a much worse power to weight ratio but costs only $0.01 per mile to drive.
People will still pay astronomical amounts of money for a Ferrari GTO manufactured in 1962. It's certainly not the fastest car out there - not by a long shot. But, they pay the money because to drive a Ferrari is to drive a piece of history.
If given the choice, I'd drive ANY Ferrari over the EV.
First off i think its trying to demonstrate electric vehicles can outperform petrol....SO PUT IT AGAINST THE PETROL ARIEL ATOM (IT LOSES!0-60 takes 2.7-2.9 secs)
Second - an electric carrera gt/ferrari wouldn't be as fast/will have the same wheelspin problems due to inertia. It will still lose
This test is not comparable - the petrol counterparts would always beat the electric ones (unless they arent street legal)
The "petrol Atom" you refer to has 300HP AND is 250kg lighter than the EV yet does EXACTLEY the same 1/4 mile time and EXACTLEY the same 0-60.
The EV has 220Hp and costs ONLY $0.01 per mile to drive.
If SEEING a 650hp ICE getting it's arse kicked by a 220hp EV doesn't convince you, nothing will!
If you knew anything about electric cars, (or if you just payed attention to ian in the vid), you'd know they are way more efficient than gas. You don't even know the fact's of the gas atom vs the ev and you make such absurd claims!
