Great scene! Definitely agree with dcamaggots, although the whole NWO thing is abit far fetched. Its more the idea that the top 25% of the richest want the bottom 25% to know nothing of politics to keep people either not voting or voting republican/conservative.

It did win Best Picture. It won a few Oscars (posthumous one for Peter Finch), with ROCKY as the main competition.
ROCKY is the better known film of the two, and as much as I like ROCKY, NETWORK's better.

I think the reason why this is so true to today is because everything he said came true. this was the outright truth shoved into our face, but people are sheep so what do you expect. We are the product of what hes been talking about.

His theory about homogenisation and the U.S being the first 'humanoid' country - i.e a nation where individuality has vanished to be replaced by people who exist purely to sustain a global economy - is only partly accurate in relation to where we are now.
Individuality and creative enterprise DO still exist, but the corporate behemoths and government puppet masters will always wield huge power. They haven't totally got us under their thumb, though.

I'd never heard of this film until samples were used over a track on a mix CD I had, I got round to buying it the other day and was so happy to see it.
The whole film seems to be one long political message but it's all very relevent to todays world, very good film.
My only disappointment was the ending, won't spoil it for those who have yet to see it though!

The new company was named NBC Universal. GE is the worlds largest company. GE CEO Jeff Immelt is a financial advisor to the president.
