If an anarchist had ... ( 3 months ago by MobileMediaProducts)
If an anarchist had a big goal, they'd need to get a lot of other anarchists together to accomplish it. They could, certainly, but my guess is, human nature would start getting in the way, which would lead to power struggles, which would lead to grouping, which would lead to mini-nation-state behavior. So, to accomplish a large goal, they'd have to create something they hate, i.e., a nation-state. The Joker was a liar and crazy. He wasn't a sane anarchist.

I didn't call anyone a dick, Coz.

he definitely wasnt sane! forget about joker a minute.
i understand where u r going in your arguement, but also consider what i said in the video. one at a time, in an anarchist society, we would be on the same wavelength, & we know ppl want power, but, as anarchists, we understand, we are all more powerful with self representation, and would not want to give that up,that in mind, we can work together, and even have leaders, because those leaders are only there because WE actually want them there

im not pointing the finger. im just saying you are both good guys with good ideas, coming from different directions, & it would be more constructive to work together than to hate because of different directions. and because i like both of ya, i thought i would nip it in the bud before it got out of hand.
i sent u both the same comment,im not so much about blame, just resolution :)
if i didnt like or care, i wouldnt have said anything, feel free to go off on whoever :)
Okay, no more ... ( 3 months ago by MobileMediaProducts)
Okay, no more Joker-talk. My concern is the utopian aspect of what you're describing. I just don't think it would work because humans are what they are. We're hard-wired to fight or fly, you know? That same wiring contributes to the formation of the nation-state, just as it contributes to the ideas of those who want its converse: an anarchist-state. If that wasn't enough, when we get power, we can't help but be consumed by it, and that's the end-game that defeats whatever system we choose

I just came back from the cinema. I liked the movie, the new version of the joker is interesting even though I prefer the first one.

even cavemen, and chimps create a social structure. True anarchy won't ever really happen. It's natural human instinct to try and organize and construct. You put 5 people in a room long enough and they'll create some social construct. Good luck in your persuit. By the way your definition of anarchy, might be a little off.
Anarchy-(a)a theory ... ( 3 months ago by DrewsAnimation)
Anarchy-(a)a theory that regards the absence of all direct or coercive government as a political ideal and that proposes the cooperative and voluntary association of individuals and groups as the principal mode of organized society.
1. a state of society without government or law.
2. political and social disorder due to the absence of governmental control: The death of the king was followed by a year of anarchy.
1.)Not much room to be a president of Democracy with that ideal.

then you are still inside the box
Array ( 3 months ago by DrewsAnimation)
hmmmmmmm
Thats not really a refute of my argument is it.
All you did was spout out a lame cliche.
Good luck with spreading anarchy. I hope your endeavor isn't a fruitless waste of time, that you waste your adult life trying to accomplish in vane.
ok. the refutation ... ( 3 months ago by cozmikzen)
ok. the refutation is this...being an anarchist means you are free to make whatever decisions you like. It means, it doesnt matter what labels others call you or perceive you as, you are free to chose always.
Did anybody else ... ( 3 months ago by danohrly)
Did anybody else see the blinding contradiction and irony to the Joker's character?
He's supposed to be an anarchist, but he says things like 'this town is mine', yet anarchy is a system which claims to oppose the idea of a governed control.
He creates anarchy in a systematic and controlled way, and controlled anarchy is just...wtf...
its true there were ... ( 3 months ago by cozmikzen)
its true there were contradictions in some of his words..thats kind of the point. i suggesat you look into anarchy tho, because controlled anarchy isnt "wtf", its actually what all intellectual anarchists want. the idea that anarchy is destruction is propaganda you've been taught.
I know I know, but ... ( 3 months ago by danohrly)
I know I know, but the thing that the character is against is control, and he's doing just that.
Lol I don't think like that, but the Joker brings around the idea that anarchy IS all about destruction and such.
Aside from the joker, do you think that Batman's character in this film reminds you of the modern day bush admin?
As in take away the public's privacy and liberties to keep a security in the city?
It was probably intended to look like that but I've only just noticed it...
there is a definite ... ( 3 months ago by cozmikzen)
there is a definite parallel, except, batman was a good guy doing a bad thing. bush admin. is a bad admin doing a bad thing.
joker had vision. he did have highly thought out plans, but to chaotic ends.
The public see them ... ( 3 months ago by danohrly)
The public see them as a good admin doing a good thing, I see them as mass murderers doing shit to make you wonder how they got elected.
BUT, the Joker was obviously the ringmaster of the scheme, doesn't this mean an anarchist leading a group with a hierarchy?
Yeah, he did end up having his mob killing eachother, but there was still an organization at one point
bush didnt get ... ( 3 months ago by cozmikzen)
bush didnt get elected.
you are reading to much into joker. also, joker wasnt a government. he was a criminal ring leader. according to this line of reasoning there would never be an anarchist business because no one could be boss. this is just ridiculous.
also, a true anarchist isnt limited by any means or structure. an anarchist can do anything that works, so judging his actions are pointless. he is not a government anyway.
Ok ok fine, zooming ... ( 3 months ago by danohrly)
Ok ok fine, zooming out then.
Do you think that the movie gives the average viewer the image that anarchy is nothing more than orderless chaos, blowing shit up, and would only be thought of by a madman such as the joker?
Array ( 3 months ago by cozmikzen)
yes definitely.
but i also think the authors read enough anarchy to make his speeches. then they took what would be good anarchistic principles, applied them to the illusion of order and let chaos ensue. ultimately, the average viewer will leave feeling that good ppl doing bad is better than bad people doing anything
everything on such ... ( 3 months ago by cozmikzen)
everything on such a large scale is propaganda for something. i think the overall message that authority is corrupt is good.
i think it was good that they showed joker wasnt motivated by money.
