Yes, ever so slightly, as in a few decades earlier. "Doctor Who" began in 1963, "The X-Files" began sometime in the 1980's.

In my reply to the previous post my reference to the interval between productions was grossly understated in hopes that readers would recognize said understatement as an absurdity and derive lulz from it. I apologize if my intentions were unclear. Additionally, I hope I will not offend you by offering the following correction to your reply; the serial drama known as "The X-Files" debuted on the 10th of September of the year 1993, not in the previous decade as you have asserted. kthxbai

I prefer the original version to all the other versions of the Doctor Who theme. It's just so haunting, simple, yet complicated. And it's so visionary too. Later on it just became too "modern" I guess.

i'm kinda with both sides, i like the new orchestra version, it's more doomy has a feeling of "the Dr is back...."
But the original should always be respected more, not just for it's sound, but for the time it was made, lack of Synths and stuff.
and Delia Derbyshire, probably the first electronic music artist.
