Agreed. I happen to agree with Ron Paul on a majority of points, but I share your view just the same. I think if every politician would be more like what you said I would have a lot more faith in the system, even if none of the candidates shared my views. At least there could be respect all around...

Please the facade of duty is blown away when you see how interventions are cherry picked to serve American interests. Of course if your then motivated by self-interest it becomes harder. Factor in the complexities and un-intended consequences the idea of policing the world becomes more and more morally, philosophically and realistically dangerous and foolish.
