I dont think considering Dredg to coldplay or radiohead is particularly valid seen as neither of the aforementioned are really prog anyway. Dredg compared to perfect circle, paradise lost etc is more relevent.

Yeah, of course, but everyone compares them to coldplay and Radiohead because Dredg are part of the modern art rock movement, so I was comparing them too, just for the masses (and I agree, Coldplay is not even a bit prog, Radiohead maybe a bit).
If it was for me, I would have compared them to bands like A Perfect Circle, Porcupine Tree and Anathema.

How the hell is Radiohead a comparison for the masses? How many Radiohead songs since Paranoid Android have you heard get major airplay? Zero. That's four albums ago. Unlike one hit wonders they're still popular because they make good music. Coldplay on the other hand gets washed out over the airwaves incessantly. You can blame the idiot masses for being fed Coldplay. Radiohead has a cult following because they make music that people want to hear without having it shoved down their throats.

Find me another band who sounds like Radiohead. I can find you at least 5 who these guys sound like.
There is probably a reason Radiohead are considered "genius innovators" and Dredg as you put it "no one gives a fuck about". You can't blame it on Radiohead getting more major media air time. It's not like the same assholes who like Britney Spears like Radiohead. They are liked for a good reason. One that you are clearly unable to comprehend for it is too "banal" for your evolved musical tastes.

Ok, I guess you're right, I never thought about it. You made me see Radiohead from another prospective. I think that I'll never stop learning from other people, that's a great thing.
I guess I was looking Radiohead with a shallow eye, not realizing that their minimalistic sound is actually ingenious and pretty innovative. Well, to tell the truth, I still don't see the genius in their music, though, but I think it's personal taste.
And, sorry, but Dredg is the real deal!

Wow people do give a fuck about dredg; lol they have their own cult. Anyways who cares if they don't get major media air time like Radiohead. The media is stupid, they play the same shit music over and over again. I get sick of dumb radiohead after listening to their songs more than 4 times. IF you were able to comprehend what I said, you would understand I was pointing out that Radiohead gets about as much media airplay as Dredg, ZERO. I was simply correcting someone who earlier tried to compare Radiohead to Coldplay, when they are nothing alike. Coldplay, unlike Radiohead and Dredg, gets a ton of radio air time. Not to mention after their first album, they have become banal.
Also, sorry, Dredg is NOT as talented as Radiohead musically. Whatever though.

Every band has its own merit, even if you don't like that specific band.
As for your last statement, sorry, but I find hard to believe that Radiohead musically is more talented than Dredg. But that's a matter of taste, it's useless to argue on someone's taste.

I heard this song for the first time the other day. Knowing now that it came out in 2002, i'm disappointed it was missing from the last 6 years of my life. I had the pleasure of seeing them play this live last week. Gavin's voice is PHENOMENAL.

Can't believe you guys are debating Radiohead and dredg. In another vid thread, someone said dregd reminded them of Tool. These are all great bands. Their commonalities are that they all make great music and each have a unique sound. But it's criminal dregd aren't as well known. Maybe now they will be. Another unique band that deserves more recognition is Mew...

LOL Jamber we all have our opinions, i happen to like radiohead but love Dredg WAAAAAAAAAY more. i have all their albums and have watched their shows everytime they come to the east coast. Its all a matter of taste man theres nuttin criminal about saying dredg is better. They just arent as known but they make AWESOME music listen to their evolution from their first album to present day its a journey man i love dredg.
