I have yet to hear Barack Obama claim that universal health was the answer. On several ocaisons he has said that he would like to put insurance companies in position to deny less people coverage. That seems to be what hurts common Americans and health care. His concept of treatment instead ER is also solid. Therefore how can Guliani be our savior for healthcare. It would seem Obama is in touch with real problems and solutions.

it's so refreshing to hear someone who actually knows their fucking facts on how terrible nationalized health care would be. michael moore has sucessfully influenced the SHEEP of this country. good job, moore, you propagadist

Hi, I am amazed at your knowledge about Norway and the current situation over here! Do you have any connection with Norway? Everything you say about universal health care in Norway is true, I myself am a local politician in the Norwegian Progress Party. Are you a member of the Republican party or do you need to be 18? I'm 18, we're entitled to be quite young to join a pol. party in Norway.
Norwegians, or for that case Europeans, are too uncritical, and they totally buy all Michael Moore says.

No, I don't have any connection with Norway. You have to be 18 to be officially registered in a political party and to vote. In order to run to be a representative you have to be 25, and live for 7 years (also being a citizen) in the U.S.

Huh? Uncritical and buy all Michael Moore says? Actually living in the countries that Moore pretends are perfect utopias is more likely to make you think he's full of shit. It's whiny American "liberals" (what the fuck does this word even MEAN in the U.S.?) who threaten to "move to Canada" (where I live) at every election, who worship Michael Moore.

the clip, as most supporting comments, is very stupid! by discovering that universial health care systems arent paradise (as may be described in sicko) you conclude that it must be hell.
i'd give you credit for actually bringing up SOME numbers & facts but they only lead you to half truths and some BS. how you conclude that hospitals quality ll decline through universal health care?
and if everyone is doing so well with privatized health care - why you got this big discussion then?
I agree, Universal ... ( 8 months ago by NanaHall55)
I agree, Universal HC is not the answer. Once you become involved as a HC professional, you will have some insider information. The first thing I would do would be give all physicians a tax write-off for seeing & treating indigent patients. Next, there would be tort reform. Maybe offer the physicians universal Malpractice insurance. LOL Yeah, like that would ever happen! There are many more great ideas without charging everyone 15,000 a year.

I dont understand why you portrait Norway as a bad case for universal HC? Sure we pay a lot of taxes, but our wages are high too.
There is almost no poverty and there is a good social care program. And yes we have our own social problems, but like me and many other norwegians we are glad that the state can procure a good HC and education for all norwegians.

you might have to pay something for healthcare in Norway, but not fill price. you pay your taxes to the goverment, and the goverment pays for you when you are sick, old or don't have a job.

Well hl6554, that DOES sound pretty nice, but
1. Norway is one of the richest country in the world (per capita of course).
2. Not every country gets lucky enough to have a tiny population sitting on one of the largest reserves of oil on the planet.
Take away the oil revenue and you'd have to pay double your taxes to afford those generous social programs. Good for Norway for making it work for you, but to compare the US to Norway for social programs just doesn't make sense.

Is it true that the ... ( 7 months ago by Weatherlawyer)
Is it true that the equivalent of the population of a large European country can't get health care in the US? All the TV shows soap based in hospitals for example seem to emphasise that desperate state of affairs.
Is it all just scriptwriting and nonsense?
When the poster speaks about taxes is he including education and health costs in the US? For the US seems to be based on the Indian model where all the doctors are free tocome to Europe and all the poverty stricken are free to die of TB.
In Britain Margaret ... ( 7 months ago by Weatherlawyer)
In Britain Margaret Thatcher sold off all the public companies that could not possibly have come about in a private industrial scheme and now we are reaping the reward of that.
Utilities need a common public trust funding to stop asset strippers selling off necessary utilities. When they get rid of unecessary overheads things get tighter but when disaster strikes their is no recovery.
What M Thatcher overlooked is that in bad times private business goes bust. And that's the end of their cares.

I still have a problem with the Government regulating/influencing health care in the country. The fact of the matter is that it isn't the gov's responsibility. It certainly isn't in the President's power. How about we all look at the constitution and see exactly what the President's purpose is, and what (16) things he's allowed to do... Health Care? Environment? Jobs? People need to ask not what they are going to do, but if they are allowed to do it...

So what if everyone has universal health insurance? I have health insurance now and STILL dread going to the doctor because I know I'll have to pay a lot more than I expect. Premiums are going up insurance companies are paying for LESS. Washington may get everyone an insurance policy (the ins. industry is rubbing their palms together at the thought of more premiums) but who in the HELL will make the insurance company pay when you get SICK??????? No one. THAT IS THE REAL PROBLEM!!!

Universal healthcare equals thrid world country health care. Taxes sky rocket and the US health care system falls. A new Great depression starts. Looking at Obama's plan from an economic stand point is like looking at France right now.

I'm so impressed with your clarification on the issue of Universal Health Care. It is a shame that you are not old enough to run for President, I feel you would easily trump Barack Obama in regards to his promoting the Pro-Universal Health care stance. You give me hope that our country is not just full of liberal socialists. :)
